SUMMARY:CMED Course- Moving On
DESCRIPTION:with Revd John Fisher  \nThis day will offer insight into the tricky subject of moving jobs. It will provide some biblical framework to the discernment process and how to make good choices. It will also look at the practicalities of making good applications and handling interviews well. ‘Moving On’ will give Godly space to think about this important subject. \nRevd John Fisher was appointed in 2011 as the CPAS (Church Pastoral Aid Society) patronage secretary.   As well as being an Anglican mission agency\, CPAS is the UK’s leading evangelical patron\, with involvement in appointing new clergy to over 500 parishes. CPAS patronage churches stretch from St Silas in Glasgow to Landewednack in Cornwall\, and include several well known churches such as St Holy Trinity Brompton\, home of the Alpha course. \nJohn served in parish ministry for 15 years following his ordination at Wycliffe Hall. He also has experience as an area dean and UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship) travelling secretary. Prior to his appointment as CPAS Patronage Secretary John’s  role was with the Society as a leadership development adviser\, where he was involved in training and supporting clergy\, and helping local churches to be more effective in mission. \nNote: This event is a joint CMED/IME 4-7 (curates) session and is intended for clergy. \n10am Coffee\, 10.30am Start\, 4pm Finish. \nClick here to book a place.

SUMMARY:Falmouth Filling Station
DESCRIPTION:  \nA new way of exploring the Christian faith has come to the Falmouth at the Penmorvah Manor Hotel\, Budock Water in the form of a ‘Filling Station’ meeting. \nThis is a new form of worship designed for people who feel a spiritual need for God but may feel that for some reason\, they can’t come to church. It has been found that The Filling Station will fulfil their needs. \nThese are a new cafe-style Christian celebrations which take place in venues such as village halls\, converted barns\, hotels & cafes across the country. They are relaxed and informal gatherings on a week day evening and give a different style of Christian experience. \nThe Filling Station movement was founded in a village in Wiltshire in 2006 and the new Falmouth Area Filling Station is the 52nd Filling Station to be set up across the UK\, France\, South Africa\, Canada and Switzerland; it is the first in Cornwall. Many leaders from a variety of Christian communities including Falmouth\, are excited about what they bring to an area. Over 2\,500 people attend a Filling Station gathering somewhere each month. \nThe Falmouth Area Filling Station will take place on the 3rd Monday of a month\, starting at 7.30pm. The gatherings will include celebration\, learning about being a Christian\, personal experience\, reflection and discussion as well as high quality refreshments and fellowship. SUMMARY:CMED Course- Ministry In Today's Church
DESCRIPTION:with Revd Canon Martin Seeley  \nMartin is an experienced teacher and priest.  He will share with is some of his views on ministry and the direction it is going.  He will also talk about church and some of his views on the essence of what it means to be church and the challenge we face. \nMartin has been Principal of Westcott House since September 2006. For the previous ten years he had served as vicar of the Isle of Dogs\, a large east London parish in the liberal catholic tradition. \n Prior to this Martin was a selection secretary and secretary for continuing ministerial education at the Advisory Board of Ministry. He served from 1980 to 1990 in the US\, first as curate at the Church of the Epiphany in New York City and as assistant director of Trinity Institute at Trinity Wall Street\, and then as Director of the Thompson Center\, an ecumenical continuing education centre in St Louis. He served his title in England\, in Scunthorpe. \n Martin read geography and then theology at Jesus College\, Cambridge\, and then spent a year at Ripon College Cuddesdon\, before being awarded the English Fellowship at Union Theological Seminary in New York where he studied social ethics. His interests currently concern the relationship between the eucharist\, ethics and social ministry\, and homiletics. DESCRIPTION:Zoltan Ensemble \nSunday 15th November\, 3pm at St Endellion Church \nZoltan\, an ensemble of extremely talented professional musicians\, always bring a delightful programme of chamber music for strings which shows their virtuoso playing abilities to the full \nThey welcome the return of Rosalind\, Lowri\, and Nancy\, regulars at the St Endellion summer music festival\, who will be joined by two friends and colleagues Laura Kernohan and Rose Redgrave\, to play two delightful string quintets at an afternoon concert in St Endellion. . \nMozart’s  String Quintet No.3 in C Major. \nThis colourful\, melodious piece is considered among the very greatest of Mozart’s chamber music masterpieces. The addition of the second viola clearly interested Mozart\, who was a viola player himself. \nBrahms String Quintet No.1 in F Major \nBrahms himself described this piece to his friend Clara Schumann as\, “one of (his) finest works.” Rarely performed\, consisting of 3 movements the piece opens in gloriously warm folk-like\, pastoral mood. DESCRIPTION:with Revd Canon Dr Stephen Dawes  \nDealing with the basic issues of Biblical scholarship in today’s Church:  All priests\, ministers\, Readers and Local Preachers are trained in what we might call classic Biblical scholarship and have been for over a century.  Yet often when interested lay people are introduced to some of the mildest and most commonplace ideas of classic Biblical scholarship they ask ‘Why have we not heard this before?’  Why indeed.  This session will explore the gap between the classroom and the pulpit and the strange silence of a century of Biblical scholarship in today’s church.  It will work on the assumption that if the Church of England is to be true to Hooker and the Methodist Church to Wesley and Peake\, that dangerous gap must be closed. \n Stephen is a retired Methodist minister and Canon Theologian of Truro Cathedral. \n10am Coffee\, 10.30am Start\, 4pm Finish. \nClick here to book a place.

SUMMARY:Art Exhibition by Bridget Braybrooks
DESCRIPTION:Presently at ST. Mary’s\, PZ we have an art exhibition by Bridget Braybrooks. (Rev. Bridget Macaulay) \nThe exhibition opened on Friday night the 24th October and was a resounding success with 12 out of the 19 pictures selling. \nThe collection has been inspired by a 17 century poem by George Herbert. \nIt has been created using the ancient method known as Encaustic which involves using a mix of beeswax\, damar resin and pigment to create an almost ethereal image. \nEach of the pictures expresses a specific line in the poem. \nFurther to Bridget’s artistic expression her Spirit has been further inspired as she  worked and she has written some very beautiful words which open the picture and allow people to enter into the spirit of the poem. \nThe exhibition ends Nov 7th and is really worth experiencing.
