SUMMARY:Saints Alive!
DESCRIPTION:Saints Alive! Tales of local community founders brought to life in a lively new play performed in Cubert on 7 October. \nWhat is Cornwall famous for? We all know pasties\, surfing\, glorious holidays\, world-class coastline\, but Cornwall in the theatre world is famous for its two open air theatres known as Cornish rounds. In these theatres\, medieval miracle plays were put on to celebrate stories from the bible. We know they were hugely popular because both of the surviving rounds can hold an audience of over a thousand people. \nAs part of the Heritage Lottery funded project Sacred Lands\, Saints and Sand – Cubert Church is reviving this ancient tradition and is producing a new miracle play about the local saints who founded the communities of Cubert\, Crantock\, St Newlyn East and Perranporth. Stories will be told of dragons\, decapitation and drunkenness\, bringing to life the colourful and sometimes gory stories of the people that built the churches around with these villages flourished. \nFurther information can be found here.
