DESCRIPTION:The Royal Cornwall Show is taking place in June and it kicks off with the Eve of Show service in the Main Arena at the Wadebridge showground from 6.30pm on Wednesday\, June 6. \nLeading the service this year will be Revd Steve Wild\, Cornwall Methodist District with Rev Matt Noble from Truro Baptist Church preaching. They will be joined by Bishop Chris Goldsmith who will be commissioning the chaplains for 2018’s show. Music this year will be provided by St Minver Silver Band. \nAs in previous years\, the service will be followed by a pasty and beer reception in the Churches Tent (Stand 1). \nEntrance for the service is free and there is free parking in the field opposite the showground. \nAll are welcome to attend and join in as we pray and give thanks for all involved in the show – organisers\, exhibitors and visitors.

DESCRIPTION:‘Syria\, the crisis deepens. \nMarch this year marked the seventh anniversary of the Syrian uprising. Since then\, more than 400\,000 people have died\, some due to bombs\, some due to torture\, and some due to deliberate starvation and the denial of medicine and medical equipment. Many thousands more are missing\, and on top of this\, at least 5.6 million Syrian refugees are now scattered around the world. They have become part of the biggest refugee crisis since the Second World War. In the June Newsdairy there were stark figures from the U.N that demonstrate worldwide that the need to support refugees is as great as ever. \nOn Sunday July 8th from 1.30 – 4.00pm St Gerrans and St Philleigh  are holding a Syrian Picnic Lunch in the garden at Trelowen\, Rosevine\, TR25EN to which you are all invited. All donations raised will go to support the work of refugee charities both locally and nationally. There will information about these charities at the lunch. \nThe menu will be simple and vegetarian\, and will incorporate a variety of Middle Eastern foods\, including falafel\, hummous and pitta breads\, chickpea\, aubergine and couscous salads\, Syrian Moussaka and Cheese and Spinach Filo Pie\, followed by such delights as Syrian Apple Cake and Orange and Polenta cake. \nWe ask that everyone brings their own rugs\, chairs\, picnic plates and knives and forks. Water\, soft drinks\, coffee and tea will be available\, but please feel welcome to bring a bottle of something alcoholic if you prefer. He is already an international prize winner for his advanced musical ability with the violin and he will be playing with other talented young musicians in the Penzance Youth String Orchestra.
